It’s Another Project 52!

Welcome to Project 52, 2024! (Thank you to those who contributed ideas.) So, (for those who are new) what is this, and how does this all work?

~ Project 52 is an exercise where members post one image a week for a year. Its primary purpose is to get you out photographing new work. Each week has a different theme with its own album. The printable calendar is in the Files section of the Facebook group.

~ Each week begins at 12:01 AM on Monday and ends at 12:00 Midnight on Sunday. Your images must be shot and posted in that week’s album on Facebook during this time period. No raiding the files 😊. Take a bunch, so you have a choice. Try not to miss a week, because you can’t post after the deadline for that week. (With one exception – see “ReRun” below.)

~ Before midnight on Sunday, you must post only one (1) image to the album (not in the general discussion feed) for that week on Facebook. Click on Media, then Albums, and you’ll see it.

~Once again, we have both Photographer’s Choice (in yellow) and technical categories (in blue), randomly sprinkled throughout the calendar, and your goal should be to post 53 images for the year. There’s an extra week in this year, just because that happens to be the way it worked out

~ Comments and critique are a vital part of this project, something we don’t do often enough. Feel free to comment on those images posted. Make suggestions for improvement. “Nice shot!” helps no one to improve, although as part of a more substantial critique, it can boost confidence.

We have one “Rerun” category. If you missed a week and want to do that challenge, or if you’d like to re-do a prior challenge, post it here. The only catch is that the image must be taken the week of the Rerun challenge. So, you’re limited in that you can’t post a reworked image from a prior challenge; you must take a new one.

Feel free to print out the Project 52 calendar for reference. Put a copy in your camera bag, and plan photo excursions to possibly include weekly subjects. If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to contact Corrie at corriezacharias197@gmail.com or message me on Facebook!
